Five ways to deal with bad breath

Chronic halitosis, otherwise known as bad breath is one major problem that affects many people today. It is a common condition that can be really frustrating and embarrassing. Most cases of bad breath emanate from the tongue and gums.

There are several ways to battle bad breath and keep your mouth healthy. Here are few of the tips that you have to follow, if you really want to overcome bad breath:.

Visit a dentist

This is the first thing you should do. Your dentist will evaluate you to confirm whether your bad breath is caused or not by any internal source such as an infection. Visiting a dentist regularly will also help to make sure that you are maintaining good oral hygiene.

Brush your teeth regularly

Brushing your teeth regularly means brushing at least twice daily; morning and night, before going to bed. This will help to remove plague and food debris from your mouth. Adding another round of brushing, with the use of baking soda is also good as it helps to reduce the acidity in the mouth. Also, this will make it difficult for thre bacteria that cause bad breath to grow.

Scrape your tongue

Buy a tongue scraper from a drugstore or use your toothbrush to scrape tour tongue daily. It helps to remove any residue that may be building up in the tongue.

Floss daily

There are food debris in between the teeth that a toothbrush cannot reach. Dental floss will help to remove such. If you don’t remove the food debris, bacteria may feed on them and cause bad breath.

Drink plenty water

Also, don’t forget to drink at least, six to eight 8-ounce of water daily. Water helps to control bad odour, by washing away food particles and bacteria that cause bad breath.
